Flexport’s global head of ocean freight focuses on helping companies grow

Flexport has tapped Trine Nielsen as the global head of ocean freight.

Nielsen most recently oversaw Flexport’s Europe, Middle East and Africa ocean team as it navigated global challenges such as the Red Sea disruptions.

In her new role, Nielsen will lead Flexport’s strategy for the global ocean division and seek to enhance the company’s partnerships with ocean carriers worldwide.

Forward Air cuts workforce as it navigates post-merger landscape

The dust continues to settle from numerous layoffs at Forward Air last week, multiple people familiar with the matter told FreightWaves. The sources said the job cuts range from clerical positions to the C-suite and include many sales and technology roles.

Brokers, forwarders adjust course as market softens

A decline in freight volumes, geopolitical concerns and cost inflation were top of mind for customs brokers and freight forwarders, according to Descartes’ eighth annual benchmark survey.
