Fuel Conservation Strategies for Fleets

Fuel is among trucking fleets’ biggest operational expenses, accounting for between 15% and 30% of total costs. With fluctuating diesel prices and increasing concerns over fuel fraud and inefficiencies, fleet owners must implement more innovative strategies to manage consumption without compromising productivity. Effective fuel conservation improves fleet efficiency, enhances driver accountability, and extends vehicle life while reducing environmental impact.

As technology advances, data-driven...

Freightliner adds nifty changes to fifth-generation Cascadia

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia from Daimler Truck North America features some nifty changes to the market-leading Class 8 over-the-road truck.

But a major makeover, it isn’t.

Coming to market about five years after the current-generation truck – called the New Cascadia when introduced in 2019 – the fifth-gen tractor is scheduled for production in mid-2025. It claims a modest 1.9% improvement in fuel efficiency over the current model, part of a lineage that covers...

Asian airlines equip 777 cargo jets with sharkskin system to reduce drag

Freighter airlines are leading the way in fitting aircraft with a new high-tech coating that mimics the structure of a shark’s skin to reduce aerodynamic drag and fuel consumption. EVA Air and All Nippon Airways recently became the first Asian carriers to equip Boeing 777 freighters with the friction-reducing AeroShark surface film, following the footsteps of Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss International Air Lines.

All Nippon Airways said it began operating its first 777 freighter with the special...

Tesla Tops The Chart Of Making The Most Fuel Efficient Vehicles !

Credit: Tesla Fans Schweiz/ unsplash
  • Tesla cars consume the least fuel when converted to the miles per gallon metric.
  • It is followed by Japanese or Korean brands like Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, and Mazda.
  • Then come the German automakers, while the gas-guzzling trend puts GM, Ford, or Stellantis, at a disadvantage.

Despite the consumer trend towards bigger and heavier vehicles with more horsepower in the past few years, most manufacturers managed to improve the fuel economy of their...
