Georgia Ports handles over 2.8 miilion TEUs from July to December

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reported over 2.8 million TEUs in fiscal year-to-date 2025 (1 July 2024 – 31 December 2024), reflecting an 11.4% increase—nearly 300,000 TEUs—at the Port of Savannah, compared to the same period last year.

Georgia Ports processed more than 442,000 TEUs in December alone, marking a 4.7% rise (19,850 TEUs) compared to the same month in 2023.

Port of Savannah adds four electric ship-to-shore cranes

On 25 January, the Port of Savannah received four new electric ship-to-shore cranes, increasing its fleet at Ocean Terminal to eight Super Post Panamax cranes, all designed by the Finnish port equipment manufacturer Konecranes.

Savannah expedites India-bound cargo to market by up to eight days

Georgia Ports said the Port of Savannah is up to eight days faster for Indian cargo moving to inland markets such as Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas, compared to US West Coast ports.

Georgia Ports Authority noted that six weekly services are directly linking Savannah to India and a total of ten services are connecting Savannah to the Indian Subcontinent. Georgia Ports nears 500,000 TEUs in October

In October, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reported 494,261 TEUs, marking an increase of over 45,000 TEUs, or 10% compared to the same month last year.

This was GPA’s third-highest October on record, following 2021 and 2022 when the Port of Savannah processed over half a million TEUs.

Georgia Ports Authority increases Brunswick port’s capacity

Georgia’s Port of Brunswick is expected to add 50 additional acres (200,000 m²) of paved vehicle storage at Colonel’s Island Terminal.

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) Board approved the measures at its meeting on 24 September.

Georgia Ports handled 5.25 million TEUs in fiscal year 2024 (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024), representing a decrease of 2.3% or 123,000 TEUs compared to the previous year.
