The Port of Brunswick handled an all-time record of 91,360 units of Roll-on/Roll-off cargo in March, up 18% from the same month last year.

Georgia Ports sets container volume records

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reported 534,000 TEUs in March, translating to a 22.5% increase over the same month in 2024.

In intermodal cargo, the Port of Savannah set an all-time record of 52,645 containers moved by rail, an increase of 17% over March 2024. Additionally, the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal completed 333,571 truck turns in March, with the U.S. port setting a weekly gate record of 80,505 truck turns in the week ending March 16.

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) handled 479,850 TEUs in February, a 6% increase over the same period last year and a new monthly record.

Meanwhile, GPA’s intermodal team achieved a milestone on 28 February, completing 2,246 rail lifts within 24 hours.

Georgia Ports handles over 2.8 miilion TEUs from July to December

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reported over 2.8 million TEUs in fiscal year-to-date 2025 (1 July 2024 – 31 December 2024), reflecting an 11.4% increase—nearly 300,000 TEUs—at the Port of Savannah, compared to the same period last year.

Port of Savannah adds four electric ship-to-shore cranes

On 25 January, the Port of Savannah received four new electric ship-to-shore cranes, increasing its fleet at Ocean Terminal to eight Super Post Panamax cranes, all designed by the Finnish port equipment manufacturer Konecranes.

Once fully operational and after the completion of berth construction, the eight ship-to-shore cranes at Ocean Terminal will be able to handle two vessels simultaneously. Although Ocean Terminal remains open and functional, it is currently undergoing renovations.

Georgia Ports nears 500,000 TEUs in October

In October, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reported 494,261 TEUs, marking an increase of over 45,000 TEUs, or 10% compared to the same month last year.

This was GPA’s third-highest October on record, following 2021 and 2022 when the Port of Savannah processed over half a million TEUs.
