The Port of Savannah in Georgia, US has handled 4.75 million TEU in the ten months of the fiscal year 2022 (July 2021 – June 2022), which translates to an 8% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

Georgia Ports to expand Savannah’s container capacity by 60%

Following January’s record performance, Griff Lynch, the executive director of Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), unveiled plans to expand the Port of Savannah’s container capacity by 60%, which will increase the port’s annual capacity to 9.5 million TEU by 2025.

Georgia Ports expedites 25% box capacity expansion amid record month

Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) Board has announced its plans to accelerate the completion of its container capacity expansion, which is scheduled to add more than 1.6 million TEU annual capacity by June 2022.

Particularly, GPA will open 670,000TEU of new annual capacity at Garden City Terminal by January, while an additional terminal capacity of 155,000 TEU will be available in early March. Furthermore, another 850,000 TEU is expected to be added at the port until June.

Georgia Ports adds rail capacity amid record container traffic

Amid reporting the second busiest month ever in the Port of Savannah, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has approved more than US$34 million to facilitate the addition of 1.6 million TEU of container capacity.

Largest vessel on USEC docks at Savannah’s berth

The Port of Savannah has announced it served the largest vessel to ever call the US East Coast on 26 May. The 16,000TEU container ship CMA CGM Marco Polo docked at the Port of Savannah’s Berth 9, which is the largest single container facility in North America.

Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has reported a year-on-year 38% increase in container trade for April with the Port of Savannah handling 466,633TEU in the second-busiest month on record after last March.

Georgia Ports Authority orders 28 Konecranes box cranes

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has ordered 20 eco-efficient Konecranes Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes and 8 Konecranes Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes for the Port of Savannah.

Savannah becomes the king of US agricultural exports

The port of Savannah became the top port in the United States for the export of containerised agricultural goods.

In 2019, agriculture accounted for 60% of Savannah’s exports, which translates to more than 843,000TEU. Forest products such as wood pulp, paper and logs made up the largest category of goods, followed by clay, cotton and poultry.
