Georgia Ports’ fiscal year volumes slide nearly 7%

The Georgia Ports Authority handled 5.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units in its 2023 fiscal year ending June 30, down 6.7% from fiscal year 2022 but higher than the 5.3 million TEUs moved in 2021 and the 4.5 million TEUs moved in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of that total, GPA handled 1.13 million TEUs in loaded imports at the Port of Savannah in 2023, nearly 61% lower than 2022. Loaded export volume at Savannah for 2023 was 684,806 TEUs, down 49% year over year.

Despite the headwinds of inflation, rising interest rates and high warehouse inventories, the Georgia Ports Authority said it had its second-busiest February ever.

Quarterly volumes up at Georgia ports despite September decline

Fiscal year first-quarter volumes at Georgia Ports Authority rose 9.6% compared with the first quarter of 2022 despite a 7.6% decline in September volumes.

Georgia’s ports handled more than 1.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units between July and September, GPA said Thursday. GPA’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

Port of Savannah achieves box volume records amid major expansion projects

The Port of Savannah in Georgia, US has handled 4.75 million TEU in the ten months of the fiscal year 2022 (July 2021 – June 2022), which translates to an 8% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

Port of Savannah reports new montly container record in January

The Port of Savannah has set a monthly record in container volumes for the 18th consecutive month in January with 479,700 TEU proceeded, which is an increase of 4% year-on-year.

Georgia Ports expedites 25% box capacity expansion amid record month

Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) Board has announced its plans to accelerate the completion of its container capacity expansion, which is scheduled to add more than 1.6 million TEU annual capacity by June 2022.
