Grain inspections fall but corn rebounds

For the week ending Aug. 22, total inspections of grain (corn, wheat, and soybeans) for export from all major U.S. export regions reached 2.16 million metric tons (mmt), according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

SBITC to launch containerized grain shipping

Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC) announced that the shipment of grain may now be containerized.

SBITC, a member of the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), will begin importing shipments of grain such as rice, wheat, corn, and soybean meal through container shipping in order to increase cost-efficiency and effectiveness.

CP marks a record for grain shipment

Canadian Pacific has broken all-time records for the shipment of grain, moving 2.64 million metric tonnes (MMT) of Canadian grain and grain products in October. This makes October 2018 CP’s biggest month ever for moving Canadian grain, breaking the record from September 2017. During the month of October CP also set a new record for biofuels shipped.
