In its second recent report on a Great Lakes bulker grounding incident, the National Transportation Safety Board has released its findings on an April 2023 incident in which the 1973-built, 667-foot-long, self-unloading bulk carrier John J Boland grounded twice in Lake Huron, sustaining over $775,000 in damage.

The National Transportation Safety Board has released its report on a January 7, 2023, incident in which the 715-foot long, 1980-built Great Lakes bulk carrier American Mariner grounded on shoals, damaging three ballast water tanks. Tug crew frees grounded lake freighter

The American Courage, a 617-foot lake freighter that ran aground in the St. Clair River November 7 at 7:21 a.m. local, was successfully refloated around 7 p.m. with the help of towing vessels from Great Lakes Towing.
