IMO Working Group progresses talks on greenhouse gas reduction from shipping

Countries expressed their willingness continue exploring common ground in negotiations for new binding measures to cut greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping.
International efforts to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping took a step forward as the IMO’s Intersessional Working Group on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships (ISWG-GHG 18) concluded its latest round of discussions today.

Sulphur and Greenhouse gas reduction priority for ICS

“The 2020 global sulphur cap will be the regulatory game changer of the decade with profound implications for the economics of shipping” believes Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Esben Poulsson. “But there are even more profound changes to come.
