CMA CGM opts for ‘market share over profit’ in second quarter

CMA CGM posted a net loss of $109m in the second quarter, taking the French transport and logistics group to a first-half loss of $152m.

Hapag-Loyd to increase rates from East Asia

In light of current market conditions, Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates for all cargoes and all container types from East Asia to South America East Coast with effect from September 15, 2019 as follows:

  • USD 600 per Container

In addition, with effect from October 1, 2019 Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates for all cargoes and all container types from East Asia to Mexico, Central America, West Coast of South America, Caribbean and Panama as follows:

HL revises Rhine River low water surcharge

In light of the currently extremely low water levels on the Rhine River, barge transports are severely affected due to draft restrictions, according to Hapag-Lloyd’s announcement.

“Consequently we shall apply a low water surcharge (LWO/LWD) for both Import and Export, with immediate effect, as illustrated in the tables below,” the German shipping company says.
