PortEconomics member Theo Notteboom compiled a table showing the year-on-year TEU growth in the top 15 container ports in the European Union during the first six months of the year.

The maritime traffic at the HAROPA Port complex in France reached 2.63 million TEUs in 2023, translating to 81.3 million metric tons, reflecting a decrease of 4.5% compared to the previous year’s figures.

Additionally, HAROPA Port’s liquid bulk traffic ended the year at 41.2 million metric tons, experiencing a positive uptick of 5%. On the other hand, solid bulk traffic faced a decline of 11% to 12.7 million metric tons, primarily attributed to reduced cereal exports.

Haropa Port and Verso Energy to develop low-carbon hydrogen production unit

On 22 November, Haropa Port and Verso Energy, a renewable energy specialist, inked an agreement to establish an industrial unit to create low-carbon hydrogen and synthetic fuels in the Grand-Quevilly port region.

French port complex HAROPA PORT is developing the port of Bruyères-sur-Oise to create a new multimodal platform, 40 kilometres from the capital of France, Paris.

HAROPA Port reports 1.25 million TEUs in first half

French port complex of Havre, Rouen and Paris HAROPA Port has handled 1.25 million TEUs from the beginning of the year until June.

This is translating to an 8.6% decline in full container inland traffic, while imports dropped by 6.8% and exports fell by 12.4%.

On the other hand, HAROPA Port achieved positive results in river box traffic with 12,834 TEUs.
