The UnLost Homeland

The film screening of “The UnLost Homeland” by Eftychia Fragou will take place at the Hellenic Centre on Tuesday, 29 April 2925 at 7 pm. The film follows the story of 12 Greeks from Constantinople who lived through the Istanbul pogrom of 1955 in Turkey.

It is notorious in modern history as the only pogrom of such magnitude to have taken place during peacetime. The camera lens together with the presenter transports us to the stories of all the refugees who were forced to leave their country as...

The Greeks for nearly ten millennia have devoted a lot to the Sea in more than a multiple of ways. This medium, for over a decade, has also devoted more than ten centum of its content to all forms of Arts and we continue to support arts and its role particularly at time of adversities – bad markets, Covid et al… Laid up tonnage,...

The BDI@608: Revival?

John Faraclas

For a second day the BDI (Baltic Dry Index) saw a light improvement  since yesterday despite the continue fall of the Capes. Developments in Geopolitics must be watched as they might produce unwanted detrimental situations… John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

These 10 points today was mana from heaven in an otherwise battered market… the 600 points threshold was regained!!!! Don’t count your eggs before they are hatched as we are still 1,239 points below the level of the BDI as of the...

The BDI@598: as “odd” as it gets…

John Faraclas

Finally a day, after quite a while we see the BDI on the plus, even three points make a big difference. In Geopolitics we see that aggression is there to stay. John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The Cape’s BCI approached dangerous level after losing another 25 points and now stands at 711… All other Dry Indices on the plus!

The Panamaxes’ BPI was up 14 points and now read 600!

The Supras had the best “performance” with 25 plus points; the BSI now standing at 454…

Four points plus for...

Falling BDI@1,169: not yet a disaster…

John Faraclas. Picture credits George Christakis

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost nearly 100 points on a weekly basis and now stands at 1,169; Geopolitics in jeopardy… John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recap:

The BDI was down 20 points earlier on today and now reads 1,169 and was exactly 91 points down since last Friday the 4th of January 2019 when it stood at 1,260 points.

The BCI managed to keep an equilibrium so to speak as the Capes are notoriously known for its volatile nature. The daily loss...

The BDI@1,339: The roulette wheel keeps turning. It all depends on what day of the week you fix

John Faraclas

The BDI@1,339: The roulette wheel keeps turning. It all depends on what day of the week you fix. Just compare to only 5 days ago (22/11) and see what you get out of this. The BCI has exactly doubled whilst Handies and Supras are completely flat; all the Capes heading to China. Geopolitics get a swirl to the worse. John Faraclas’ daily brief recap:

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained three-digit-points: 122 earlier on today “thanks” to the Capes rise; this is beyond business shipping...
