Το HSFO υποχωρεί – Τα scrubbers κερδίζουν έδαφος

Η 1η Ιανουαρίου 2020 αποτέλεσε για τη ναυτιλιακή βιομηχανία μια ημερομηνία-ορόσημο σε ό,τι αφορά τις περιβαλλοντικές της δεσμεύσεις, καθώς από εκείνη την ημέρα είναι σε ισχύ το sulphur cap του ΙΜΟ.

Σιέρρα Λεόνε: Συμμόρφωση και εφαρμογή του IMO Sulphur Cap 2020

Όπως αναφέρει σε δημοσίευμα της η BIMCO, οι χώρες που έχουν επικυρώσει τη MARPOL και έχουν συναινέσει στο παράρτημα VI, οφείλουν να θέσουν σε ισχύ και να εφαρμόσουν τις  ρυθμιστικές διατάξεις της σύμβασης  στους λιμένες τους. Έτσι από την 1η Σεπτεμβρίου, η Σιέρρα Λεόνε θα επιβάλλει πρόστιμο, έως και $15.000, σε πλοία που βρίσκονται στα χωρικά ύδατα της χώρας, εφόσον δεν τηρούν τους κανονισμούς του IMO Sulphur Cap 2020.

Singapore HSFO Sales Topped 1mn Tonne

Surge In Scrubber Orders Insufficient To Meet IMO’s Cap on Sulphur

Analysts say a recent surge in scrubber orders will not be enough to absorb the predicted surplus of high-sulphur residual fuel oil when IMO’s global cap on sulphur in fuel takes effect in 2020, reports Riviera.

Argus Media analysis of energy and shipping industry manufacturing sectors added to a growing body of evidence showing an uptick of scrubber orders in 2018, particularly in the tanker sector, but said order numbers were too small to have a significant impact on HSFO consumption post-2020.

IMO 2020: Η ομαλή μετάβαση, γρίφος για δυνατούς λύτες
