Callan Marine to add another new dredge

Galveston, Texas, headquartered Callan Marine continues to expand its fleet. In May last year, it took delivery of the 32-inch cutter suction dredge General MacArthur. Then, In July last year, it reported that construction was underway on a new 28-inch dredge, the General Bradley. Today, the company reports that another new dredge, an 18-inch cutter suction dredge to be named the General Marshall, will join the Callan’s fleet in 2022.

Veteran dustpan dredge starts its Mississippi season

An 88-year-old Corps of Engineers dustpan dredge, the Jadwin, departed from the Vicksburg, Miss., Harbor, May 3, for its annual season of dredging along the Mississippi River and its tributaries.

The Jadwin is classed as a dustpan dredge due to the shape of the suction/cutting head which resembles a dustpan.
