New €250 million fund to boost Dutch shipping

The Netherlands has initiated the NesecShipping Debt Fund, under which institutional investors and the Province of Groningen will offer financing for Dutch shipowners who are planning to acquire (or re-build) short sea vessels. New waste collector to address pollution in rivers

A new system currently being tested by Norway’s Environmental Agency in the Akers river in Oslo seeks to tackle waste pollution issues in rivers. Pollution is main area of concern for rivers. Finland announces hydrographic surveys in Vuoksi river to boost safe navigation

The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) has commissioned hydrographic surveys in the Vuoksi river system in eastern Finland to make navigation safer in the region.

As explained, updating nautical charts requires hydrographic surveys in the areas Savonlinna – Rantasalmi – Joroinen – Varkaus – Oravi and in the area between Oravi and Pilppa Canal.

India inaugurates second Multi Modal Terminal on Ganga

On 12 September, the Indian Prime Minister inaugurated India’s second riverine Multi Modal terminal, built at Sahibganj in Jharkhand. The new terminal is located in the logistic chain of Eastern Transport Corridor of India.
