Change of Command at USACE Mississippi Valley Division

Maj. Gen. R. Mark Toy will transfer command of the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), to Maj. Gen. Diana M. Holland in a formal change of command ceremony June 30 at 10 a.m. at MVD headquarters.

C&C Marine and Repair delivers first of 15 towboats for Maritime Partners

C&C Marine and Repair’s Belle Chasse, La., shipyard last month completed the first in a series of towboats of the same design that it will deliver to Metairie, La., Maritime Partners.

Mactech joins Thordon sales and service network

Field machining specialist Mactech Inc. has joined Thordon Bearings’ global network of sales and service agents to support the Canadian manufacturer in the Wisconsin, Michigan, Chicago, Minnesota and U.S. Great Lakes areas.

USACE dredge hits bridge, tender vessel sinks

On April 21, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District’s dredge Jadwin allided with the Highway 190 bridge pier in Baton Rouge, La. As a result of the allision, the Jadwin’s tender M/V Sanderford capsized and sank.

In addition to supporting the U.S. Coast Guard in its data collection investigation of the incident, the Corps is conducting its own comprehensive safety review, both of which will help to determine the cause of the allision.

Harken Towing to install Thordon RiverTough fleet wide

Port Coquitlam, British Columbia-based Harken Towing, which has operations along the Fraser River, is converting its vessels’ tailshaft bearings to Thordon’s RiverTough bearing system following its success aboard the 47.7 foot twin-screw tug Granny Hutch.

Fincantieri awarded $9.6 million USCG maintenance contract

Fincantieri Marine Systems North America (FMSNA) was recently awarded a $9.6 million contract to perform maintenance and repairs to the U.S. Coast Guard’s fleet of inland buoy tenders.
