Global tank container fleet exceeds 880,000 units

The International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO) has published its 13th Annual Tank Container Fleet Survey, which estimates that, on 1 January 2025, the global tank container fleet had reached 882,023 units worldwide.

This is translating to a 4% growth compared to the figure of 848,400 on 1 January 2024.

Global tank container fleet nears 850,000 units: ITCO annual survey

The International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO) has published its 12th Annual Tank Container Fleet Survey.

This year’s Survey estimates that, on 1 January 2024, the global tank container fleet had reached 848,400 units worldwide, compared to 801,800 on 1 January 2023, a year-on-year growth of 5.81%.

Global tank container fleet surpasses 800,000 units

According to this year’s International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO) survey, the global tank container fleet hit 801,800 units on 1 January 2023, up from 737,935 on 1 January 2022, representing an 8.6% increase year on year.

In order to meet the ongoing high demand for new equipment, a total of 67,865 new tank containers were constructed, up from 53,285 new units the prior year – a 14,580 unit rise.

Global tank container fleet grows 7.3% in 2021, surpassing 735,000 units

The global tank container fleet has grown by 7.3%, reaching 736,935 units worldwide at the end of 2021, according to the 10th Annual Tank Container Fleet Survey of the International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO).
