Warehouse availability contracts as inventory levels rise, LMI report says

Tightness throughout the transportation, logistics and warehousing sectors carried through the end of the year, according to a report published Tuesday. The Logistics Managers’ Index (LMI), a survey measuring supply chain activity, registered a reading of 70.1 during December.

The LMI is a diffusion index, wherein a reading above 50% indicates expansion and a reading below 50% indicates contraction.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services has started a transload service in the New York metro area. In a press release, the offering is touted as “a one-stop source for quickly transferring ocean freight into equipment for domestic transport.” The facility, located in Jersey City, New Jersey, was recently expanded to 25,000 square feet of space, is open 24/7 and includes on-site parking.

FTC launches probe into supply chain snarls

The Federal Trade Commission on Monday ordered nine large retailers, wholesalers and consumer goods suppliers to provide detailed information that will help it investigate how supply chain disruptions are causing hardships for consumers and harming competition.
