JAXPORT welcomes its largest-ever container ship

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) set a new port record on March 18 with the arrival of the ZIM vessel Cape Sounio, the largest container ship to ever call Jacksonville. The 11,000-TEU (container) vessel is operated by ZIM on a service offered by the 2M alliance. The 2M alliance is comprised of Maersk, MSC, Hamburg Süd and strategic partners HMM and ZIM.

JAXPORT to build a world-class container terminal

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) Board of Directors on March 4 unanimously approved a long-term agreement with experienced terminal operator SSA Marine for the development and operation of a state-of-the-art, $238.7 million international container terminal at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal. Second LNG ConRo ship delivered to Crowley

Crowley Maritime Corp. announced Thursday that it has taken delivery of the Taíno, second in a pair of the world’s first combination container/roll on-roll off (ConRo) ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

JAXPORT marks a new monthly record

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) achieved its highest-ever monthly container volumes in August, moving nearly 115,700 twenty-foot equivalent units (or TEUs, the industry standard for measuring containers). The previous JAXPORT monthly container record of 115,300 TEUs was set in December 2017.
