Τhe completion of the Jacksonville Harbor Deepening Project through JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal (US) is now a fact.

The project deepened 17.7 km of the federal shipping channel to a depth of 14.3 m from its previous depth of 12.1 m.

Jaxport ready for larger container ships

Jaxport on Monday celebrated the completion of the deepening of 11 miles of the federal shipping channel to 47 feet. 

The St. Johns River shipping channel from Mayport Naval Station to Jacksonville, Florida’s, Blount Island had been 40 feet deep.

MSC’s Florida Gulf Feeder service completes first call at JAXPORT

The 1,400 TEU container ship MSC Reet II is the first vessel in MSC’s Florida Gulf Feeder service that made its inaugural call to the Jacksonville Port Authority on 26 April.

The Florida Gulf Feeder service calls the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal (JCT) at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal bi-weekly with JAXPORT partner SSA Atlantic providing stevedoring services at Blount Island.

Ceres, JAXPORT agree to 20-year lease of container terminal

Ceres Terminals will lease and operate a 158-acre container facility at the Dames Point Marine Terminal at JAXPORT in Florida for the next 20 years.

JAXPORT’s board of directors, which oversees the port in Jacksonville, Florida, unanimously agreed to the $60 million deal between Ceres and the port in which Ceres will modernize the TraPac Jacksonville container terminal. Florida’s JAXPORT handles record container volume in 2021

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) in Florida handled more than 1.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units in its fiscal year 2021, an all-time record for the port and 10% higher from 2020.

Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM ‘temporarily’ steering 2 services away from Savannah

Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM have announced two services are “temporarily” bypassing Savannah, Georgia. 

CMA CGM said Wednesday that its Amerigo service, which connects the western Mediterranean to the U.S. East Coast, will “temporarily stop calling Savannah due to severe congestion in this port — eight to 10 days — and in order to protect schedule integrity and weekly sailing frequency.”
