NTSB: Time for action on passenger boat fire detection and extinguishing systems

The National Transportation Safety Board has now released its report on the engine room fire that broke out on the passenger vessel Spirit of Norfolk on June 7, 2022. It is again recommending that engine-room fire detection and fixed fire extinguishing systems be installed in small passenger vessels currently grandfathered out under USCG Subchapter K regulations.
