United Airlines grabbed headlines last month with news it had signed a letter of intent for 15 supersonic jets. The sleek vehicles from Boom Supersonic have a long way to go before becoming a reality, but if they ever become viable, they could siphon off cargo capacity on a handful of key trade lanes. 

Of more immediate concern for cargo shippers are plans by airlines to rely more on smaller aircraft with long-range capability on some overseas routes instead of widebody planes that can carry...

American Airlines, JetBlue form codeshare alliance to accelerate pandemic recovery

American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) and JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU) said Thursday morning that they had formed a strategic partnership to give customers in the Northeast more route choices by integrating their complementary networks as they work to recover from the devastating impact of the coronavirus on air travel.

In total, JetBlue gets reciprocal codeshare flights on 60 American routes and American gets access to 130 JetBlue routes.

New Airbus production line for small jets opens in Alabama

Airbus has more production capacity at its Mobile, Alabama, manufacturing campus for its A220 regional jet, but who will take delivery or make new orders is an open question as the airline industry struggles to generate business in the COVID era.
