Kenner, La.-based Karl Senner LLC has reached an agreement with Rauma, Finland-headquartered propulsion specialist Steerprop that appoints Karl Senner LLC as the Steerprop reseller throughout the U.S. for the inland waterways, and an authorized non-exclusive parts and service provider for products sold by Karl Senner.

Maritime Partners christens M/V Emily Webber towboat

Maritime Partners held a christening ceremony last month for the M/V Emily Webber towboat, the seventh of nine vessels the company is building at Intracoastal Iron Works in Bourg, La.

The towboat is named for the late Emily Michelle Webber, friend of Maritime Partners’ Co-Founder and President Austin Sperry’s wife, Sally. Webber unexpectedly died last at the age of 41.

Steerprop wins new propulsion order for newbuild icebreaker

Steerprop has received a new order for two 2.5 MW SP 60 PULL ARC propulsors to be delivered to a newbuild icebreaking vessel. This strengthens Steerprop’s position as a global supplier of propulsors of this size that can operate in extreme arctic conditions, company officials said in a statement announcing the new order.

Master Boat Builders, Bayou La Batre, Ala., has delivered the new 109’x36’x18’3″ ATB tug Cape Henery to Kirby Offshore Marine, Houston.

Designed by Guarino & Cox, Covington, La., the new tug, which has a steel hull and an aluminum tower, is powered by a pair of Tier 4 Caterpillar 3516E diesel engines, each producing 2,501 hp at 1,600 rpm. The Cats connect to 120″x78″, 5-bladed stainless-steel Hung Shin wheels through Reintjes WAF 1173 marine gears with 7.429:1 reduction ratios from Karl Senner....
