Konecranes refreshes leadership team

Konecranes has announced changes in its leadership team, first by appointing Juha Pankakoski as executive vice president of Port Solutions and member of the Konecranes leadership team.

Pankakoski starts in this position today (7 September) and will report to Konecranes’ president and CEO Anders Svensson.

Savannah’s port gets four new electric ship-to-shore cranes

The Port of Savannah acquired four Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes on 24 August increasing the crane fleet at Garden City Terminal to 34 machines following the retirement and recycling of four older cranes.

The all-electric cranes were designed by Konecranes of Finland and came on the vessel BigLift Barentsz.

When fully assembled, two of the cranes will stand 90 meters tall and the other two will be 93.2 feet tall. The cranes’ reach will be 22 and 24 containers wide, respectively.

CMA CGM enhances its terminal in Taiwan with new RTG cranes

CMA CGM made an order to Konecranes for seven hybrid Noell Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes to equip its Kaohsiung Terminal in Taiwan.

According to the agreement’s announcement, the commissioning will take place in the third quarter of 2024, with handover scheduled a few months later, in the last quarter of the year.

APM Temrinals invests US$60 million in electrification pilot projects worldwide

Senior vice president Tiitola steps down from Konecranes

Topi Tiitola, senior vice president of Integration and Project Management at Konecranes, has decided to leave the company.

Konecranes wins public tender for container handling equipment from Danish terminal

Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) will receive new container handling equipment from Finnish manufacturer Konecranes for a new box terminal in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.

After winning the public tender, Konecranes will supply eight hybrid straddle carriers that will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2023, and two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2025.

Port of Virginia invests over US$140 million in automated cranes
