Kongsberg Maritime Expands Hybrid Tanker Fleet 

Kongsberg Maritime has secured a new contract with Danish operator Tärntank to design and equip its eleventh hybrid chemical tanker, which will feature wind-assist technology. This brings the total number of vessels ordered by Tärntank to 11, with the latest five incorporating this innovative technology. The new 15,000 dwt tankers are equipped with a suite of Kongsberg Maritime’s advanced technologies aimed at energy conservation and emission reduction.

Kongsberg introduces new underwater mountable thruster with permanent magnet motor

Kongsberg Maritime has added a new size of underwater mountable thruster, with a 3.7-meter propeller and 4.2 MW power output , to its range.

Suited to a range of vessels including drill ships, wind farm vessels, and production vessels, the new UUC PM 355 thruster delivers 81 tonnes of bollard pull and features a permanent magnet (PM) motor.

The UUC PM 355 has a compact design with less space required in the machine room thanks to the integrated PM motor.

Kongsberg Maritime gains AiP for “Chief to Shore” functionality

Classification society DNV has granted Kongsberg Maritime its Approval in Principle for a “Chief to Shore” functionality that enables a key role to be transferred from a ship to a shore-based control center, marking a significant step in the journey towards uncrewed vessel operations.
