Analysis: CH Robinson – done with creative cash creation. Now what?

One of the most talked about, listed and shining transport and logistics (T&L) firms in supply chain, CH Robinson (CHRW), has been on a roll lately.
Two events – announced two weeks apart in late November and early December – are representative of the Eden Prairie-based company’s financial situation.

US Northwest Seaport Alliance gets major boost in battle against congestion

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) can see light at the end of the congestion tunnel.
At the end of last year, vessel unloading had slowed due to the festive holiday and icy weather, but terminals are back to handling multiple ships a day.
And the number of vessels waiting for berth space was down to two or three, mid-week.
Rail flows have been smooth since the two Class I operators that serve the …

Against the odds: How cool – DSV a Nasdaq proxy, Mærsk mimics Treasury yields

We need hard, incremental evidence to draw a necessary line between causation and correlation regarding what is to follow in today’s musings – the two can exist at the same time of course, but while causation explicitly denotes a relationship whereby one event is the cause of another; correlation simply implies there is a relationship between two events, and the actual dynamic of that requires further investigation.
And this week’s action …

Demand rebound maintains India’s operational constraints, despite liner efforts

As the imbalance between supply and demand widens, container lines trading in the Indian market say they have made every effort to better manage shipper expectations, propelled by the resurgent global sourcing for Asian goods.
Echoing that sentiment, Sunil Vaswani, executive director of the Container Shipping Lines Association (CSLA), told The Loadstar liner operators substantially boosted equipment availability and vessel capacity levels over the past year to aid Indian export growth.
