Penske Logistics slashing 330 jobs in Missouri

Penske Logistics plans to permanently lay off 337 warehouse and other workers in Kinloch, Missouri, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice filed on Wednesday.

The layoffs are the result of losing a contract for warehousing services for supermarket chain Schnucks.

Kinloch is a suburb of St. Louis, where Schucks is headquartered.

Trucking company with 41 drivers shuts down after dispute with bank

A 46-year-old Canadian trucking company has been put into receivership at the request of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), which said the carrier owes it $6.7 million.

Kingsley Trucking ceased operations on Thursday, the same day that the British Columbia Supreme Court placed the carrier into receivership due to the company’s being “unable to secure a transaction, financing, or other arrangement to address the defaults or repay the Indebtedness owing to the Bank,” according to court filings.

Mack Trucks plans layoffs at Pennsylvania, Maryland factories

Mack Trucks said Thursday it will lay off up to 450 workers from factories in Pennsylvania and Maryland due to the impact of tariffs and other economic factors.

Illinois trucking company with 250 drivers abruptly ceases operation

An Illinois-based trucking and logistics company has notified its 250 drivers that the carrier is ceasing operations immediately.

Truck drivers for LTI Trucking Services said they received a fleetwide message Wednesday stating the company was closing.

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. said it will lay off more than 1,200 steel and mine workers in Michigan and Minnesota, citing market conditions and weak automotive production in the U.S.

2 major logistics firms plan layoffs in US, Europe

Geodis Logistics is closing a distribution center and laying off 426 workers in Monroe Township, New Jersey.

“The GEODIS facility in Monroe Township, New Jersey, will close in July 2025 due to a key customer moving operations to a GEODIS facility in Eastern Pennsylvania,” 

Lauren McKirgan, a company spokeswoman, told FreightWaves in an email.

Geodis did not disclose the name of that customer. The Monroe Township distribution center’s address is listed as 1 Costco Drive.
