Hapag-Lloyd in largest yet ship-to-ship bio-LNG bunkering

Titan Clean Fuels has successfully bunkered the Hapag-Lloyd containership Brussels Express with 2,200 tonnes of bio-LNG containership. Believed to be the largest yet ship-to-ship bioLNG bunkering of the fuel, the operation marked Hapag-Lloyd’s entry into using the fuel.

According to the Sea-LNG coalition, the use of bio-LNG as a marine fuel can reduce GHG emissions by up to 80% compared to marine diesel on a full well-to-wake basis. Derived from biomethane produced from sustainable biomass,...

Studies Highlight LBM and LSM As Viable Bunker Fuel

  • SEA-LNG released the latest in its series of independently conducted reports.
  • It analyses the availability and costs of Liquefied Bio Methane (LBM) and Liquefied Synthetic Methane (LSM).
  • They are available in sufficient quantities to make a contribution towards future decarbonization.
  • Costs need not be significantly higher than those of other low- and zero-carbon fuels.
  • They are commercially competitive relative to other low- and zero-carbon fuels.
