BAE Jacksonville gets $26.2M mod to LCS 29 contract

BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair LLC, Jacksonville, Fla., has been awarded a $26,225,607 cost-plus-award-fee modification to exercise an option to a previously awarded contract (N00024-20-C-2320) for the accomplishment of a post shakedown availability (PSA). Austal USA delivers the future USS Kingsville

As production of the Navy’s littoral combat ship (LCS) program approaches its planned closure, Austal USA has delivered the next to final ship of the trimaran-hulled Independence-variant LCS series, the future USS Kingsville (LCS 36). Kingsville is the 18th Independence-variant delivered by the Mobile, Ala., shipbuilder and the first U.S. Navy vessel to be named after the Texas city that is home to Naval Air Station Kingsville and is directly tied to the historic King Ranch.

USS Savannah Commissioned in Georgia

The Navy commissioned USS Savannah (LCS-28) on Saturday in Brunswick, Ga., the sea service announced.

The ship is the 14th Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship to enter the fleet, according to a news release from the Navy. It is the sixth ship to bear the name Savannah.
