Nauticor, Germany-based LNG supplier, entered into a cooperation with manufacturer of special purpose vessels Fr. Fassmer, in newbuilding and retrofitting projects for ships with LNG engines.

The two partners aim to generate synergy effects for the commissioning of newbuild or retrofitted vessels, which have been equipped with LNG engines and the respective system components.

Japanese companies collaborate on LNG transportation

Hiroshima Gas along with Tokyo LNG Tanker and Tokyo Gas came together and signed an agreement for the liquefied natural gas transportation. Under the deal, some of the LNG produced by Hiroshima Gas and Tokyo Gas from Sakhalin, Russia, will be transported simultaneously through the Tokyo LNG Tanker from 2020 until 2027.

In fact, this collaboration will give a boost to Hiroshima Gas’ efficiency in the LNG operations and drop its transporting costs.

US issues four new LNG export approvals

The US Department of Energy (DOE) issued four long-term orders, authorizing the export of domestically produced LNG from four proposed LNG export projects in Texas: Annova LNG, Rio Grande LNG, and Texas LNG, all located in Brownsville, TX; and Corpus Christi LNG’s Stage III in Corpus Christi, TX.

World’s first battery and LNG trawler launched

Turkish shipyard ‘Cemre’ informed that it launched Libas, the world’s first battery & LNG driven purse seiner/trawler. The launching of the vessel took place on the 7th of February. After the completion, Cemre is planning to deliver the vessel in Q2, 2020.

NB64 Libas has a capacity of a 350 cubic meter LNG tank and eco-friendly battery system.

First STS LNG bunkering in the Port of Antwerp

Titan LNG, the Dutch service supplier of liquefied natural gas, completed its first ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas bunkering in the port of Antwerp.

ADNOC to test biofuel to reduce its sulphur emissions

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) will test biofuel as a bunkering fuel for ships, in an effort to comply with the 2020 sulphur cap, the chief executive of the company’s logistics and services subsidiary said.

In an interview at local media, Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, chief executive of Adnoc Logistics and Services, stated that the company is studying the usage of biofuel, as well as ways to reduce fuel consumption.

LNG exports from US increased over the week

Data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently showed that exports of liquefied natural gas coming from the United States’ facilities ,marked an increase over the week ending January 29.

Japan’s first LNG-fueled vessel completes 100th LNG bunkering

According to a recent statement, the tugboat Sakigake, Japan’s first LNG-fueled vessel, was supplied with LNG as fuel for the 100th time since its delivery in 2015.

In fact, the LNG bunkering was conducted safely and efficiently from a tank truck at the No. 5 quay of Shinko, Yokohama.

The vessel is owned by NYK and operated by Shin-Nippon Kaiyosha, an NYK Group company.

Cameron LNG recently achieved another important milestone at its Hackberry liquefaction facility. Namely, it marked its first simultaneous berthing of two LNG vessels, the Flex Ranger and the Wilpride.

On 23 December, Sembra LNG officially announced that Cameron LNG has started producing its first LNG. Specifically the production came from its second liquefaction train of the export facility located in Hackberry, Louisiana.
