Milestone LNG bunkering operation in China

The 15,000 TEU LNG-fueled containership CMA CGM Symi was today bunkered at the Yangshan Deep Water Port, south of Shanghai.

The operation, the first ship-to-ship LNG simultaneous operation (SIMOPS) bunkering in China, was carried out using the world’s largest LNG bunkering vessel, the recently 20,000-cubic-meter Hai Gang Wei Lai.

BV classes Norway’s first LNG bunkering vessel

Bureau Veritas (BV) has awarded its classification to Bergen Tankers’ Bergen LNG, the first LNG bunkering vessel (LBV) operating in Norway.

The vessel was created by converting the 2010-built oil tanker Oslo Tank to carry LNG instead of conventional liquid marine fuels. Bergen LNG is operated by Gasnor (recently acquired from Shell by Spain’s Molgas Energy) in the Bergen area and on the Norwegian west coast to supply the LNG fueled passenger ships operated by Hurtigruten and Kystruten.
