Nauticor, Fassmer join forces for LNG newbuilding, retrofitting projects

Nauticor, Germany-based LNG supplier, entered into a cooperation with manufacturer of special purpose vessels Fr. Fassmer, in newbuilding and retrofitting projects for ships with LNG engines.

The two partners aim to generate synergy effects for the commissioning of newbuild or retrofitted vessels, which have been equipped with LNG engines and the respective system components.

ADNOC inks deal to convert LNG tanker for FSU charter

ADNOC L&S along with Atlantic Gulf & Pacific (AG&P) shake their hand and inked a 15-year agreement concerning a floating LNG storage unit in Karaikal, India. Under the terms of the charter deal, ADNOC will provide one of its 8 LNG vessels, a 137.756 cbm Moss-type LNG tanker that would be converted to an FSU.

In fact, the tanker vessel is intended to operate in the new LNG import terminal of AG&P, which is located in Karaikal Port in Puducherry, India.

Bahrain LNG terminal construction successfully completed

Bahrain LNG recently announced that completed the mechanical construction and commissioning of its first LNG Terminal located in the Kingdom of Bahrain. For the records, the terminal was developed on a PPP basis.

The customer is paying Bahrain LNG as of completion and is sending out the last of the commissioning cargo so that the FSU Bahrain Spirit can redeploy on short‐term trade as intended.

Sempra LNG, Saudi Aramco sign IPPA for Port Arthur LNG

On 6 January, Sempra LNG along with Aramco Services Company officially announced their collaboration, as they inked an interim project participation (IPPA) for the Port Arthur LNG export project  which is under development in Jefferson County, Texas.

The IPPA came to follow a heads of agreement (HOA) that both companies have signed in last May, which indicates the purchase of five million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG and a 25% equity investment in Phase 1 of Port Arthur LNG.

China, France ink agreement on LNG development

China and France signed $15 billion contracts during a visit of France’s President Emmanuel Macron to China including a contract to develop a LNG terminal and storage facility in China’s North port of Tianjin. The contracts include a variety of sectors, such as energy, agriculture and aeronautics.

New project eyes LNG export from Alaska to Asia

The new Alaska-based company Qilak LNG revealed plans to ship natural gas from the North Slope field to Asian markets, under a proposed Alaska North Slope LNG export project (Qilak LNG 1 Project). To this end, the company announced a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with ExxonMobil Alaska Production to ship LNG from Point Thomson.

FERC issues notice of schedule for environmental review to Commonwealth LNG

Commonwealth LNG announced that the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review.

The Commonwealth LNG project includes the construction of one liquefied natural gas plant, as well as six gas liquefaction trains and appurtenant facilities. Each train will have a liquefaction design capacity of approximately 1.4 million metric tonnes annually for a total nominal liquefaction capacity of 8.4 mtpa.

Yamal LNG shipments through NSR surge in 2019

Novatek, the Russian gas company, announced that during the third quarter of 2019, 15 LNG cargos from the company’s Yamal LNG project were shipped eastbound to the Asian Pacific markets directly through the Northern Sea Route.

The company added that according to its estimations there will be a more than four times increase in the volumes of LNG delivered eastbound to the Asian Pacific markets via the NSR for 2019, compared to last year.

Partners agree on FID for the Arctic LNG 2 project

The final investment decision (FID) for the Arctic LNG 2 project has been approved by Total, Novatek and other project stakeholders. As Total states, the project is set to have a production capacity of 19.8 million tons per year (Mt/y).

Specifically, the project is expected to exports its first LNG cargo by 2023, the second and third train to start up by 2024 and 2026. Recently, Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of VEB.RF, informed that one vessel could cost as much as $330 million.
