MOL’s LNG-Fueled Tugboat Earns Highest Rating For Coastal Ship Energy Conservation

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced that naming and launching ceremonies for the company’s LNG-fueled tugboat, built at Kanagawa Dockyard Co., Ltd., were held on September 28. The tugboat was named Ishin after the name of MOL’s technology development project, the “ISHIN NEXT – MOL SMART SHIP PROJECT –. ” Ishin, slated for delivery in February 2019 after the completion of outfitting work, will be the first LNG-fueled tugboat serving Osaka Bay starting in April.

On 25 September 2018, Sovcomflot’s Arctic LNG carrier Christophe de Margerie loaded the milestone 5-millionth tonne of liquefied natural gas for Yamal LNG, at the Port of Sabetta on the Yamal Peninsula in the far north of Russia.

A ground-breaking ceremony for the new Hamina LNG terminal that is to be engineered, procured and constructed by Wärtsilä was held on September 25. The ceremony was attended by Finland’s Minister of Finance Mr Petteri Orpo, as well as local officials and executives from Hamina LNG Oy and Wärtsilä.
