LTL tonnage up double-digits in Q4

Logistics provider ArcBest Corp. (NASDAQ: ARCB) reported Tuesday fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of 97 cents, 5 cents ahead of consensus and 41 cents ahead of the 2019 period.

The asset-based segment, which includes less-than-truckload operations, reported an 8% year-over-year increase in revenue as tonnage increased by a similar amount with revenue per hundredweight, or yield, moving slightly higher.

Amazon cuts ties with more delivery providers

Amazon is severing ties with more logistics companies.

More than 1,700 delivery drivers who work for small logistics companies in the Northeast found out in early August that they will lose their jobs over the next few months, though Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) said the drivers will have opportunities for other positions with its delivery partners.

The latest purge comes a few months after more than 1,300 delivery drivers were notified in February that Amazon was severing ties to their logistics companies.
