Port of Montreal longshore workers on strike again

Port of Montreal longshore workers have walked off the job again.

The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) braced for terminal delays or operations stoppages after the longshore members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) launched a four-day strike Monday morning.

APM Terminals Pier 400 LA sets container-handling record

APM Terminals Pier 400 handled a record-setting 18,465 container moves from a vessel longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall at the Port of Los Angeles this week.

The container moves, crane lifts to or from a cargo vessel, transferred the equivalent of 34,263 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

FMC identifies San Pedro Bay container challenges during COVID-19

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) on Wednesday identified four key areas where the container shipping industry in the San Pedro Bay port complex of Southern California can overcome current supply chain disruptions.

In late March, the FMC tasked Commissioner Rebecca Dye to lead a handful of industry representative-based “innovation teams,” with the goal of developing regional guidance to improve the transport and logistics flow of container traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
