Neste launches 2020 sulphur cap compliant fuel

In order to help shipping companies comply with the 2020 sulphur cap, Neste announced that it is offering a new IMO 2020-compliant marine fuel. The Neste Marine 0.5 contains maximum 0.5% sulphur, and it will be introduced to the market during the fourth quarter of 2019.

Neste Marine 0.5 is manufactured in Neste’s refinery in Porvoo, Finland.  The product meets the RMG 0.5 specification and ISO 8217:2017 standard requirements.

Singapore stocks up LSFO ahead of 2020 sulphur cap

Oil traders are chartering more ships, while they are are trying to find fuel oil storage tanks in and around Singapore, the world’s top bunkering port, aiming to ensure compliance with the upcoming 2020 sulphur cap.

Asian refiners trial the waters with IMO-compliant VLSFO

Reuters reports that Taiwanese and South Korean refineries are testing the market for fuels that are compliant with IMO’s sulphur cap, starting next year, by exporting cargoes of very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO).

Specifically, the refiners have redirected low-sulphur feedstocks into making the VLSFO, rather than refining it into gasoline, following recent opinions that gasoline would see low profits.

Costa Cruises signs ‘Genoa Blue Agreement’ for Ports of Genoa and Savona

Costa Cruises has signed the ‘Genoa Blue Agreement’ promoted by the Genoa and Savona Coast Guard Offices. Korean refiner to increase LSFO production by four times

SKTI informed that it will increase its offshore oil blending business by four times, reaching from the current 23,000 barrels a day, to 90,000 barrels next year. The company charters a large oil tanker and adds semi-finished products to produce LSFO.

Watch: ExxonMobil introduces 2020 compliant fuels range

ExxonMobil introduced EMF.5, its range of engineered marine fuels, specifically designed to help operators comply with the IMO 2020 global sulphur cap. The company says that the new product does not compromise fuel quality.

EMF.5 fuels meet the ISO 8217-2017 specification, but according to ExxonMobil, they have passed fit-for-use assessments, in order to ensure that they are safe and efficient when they switch to low sulphur fuels.

Israel’s Oil Refineries to deliver IMO 2020 compliant fuel

Israel’s Oil Refineries (ORL) have delivered its first cargo of compliant 0.5% sulphur content marine fuel, in line with IMO’s upcoming rules. Namely, the 197,000 barrel per day refinery loaded its first 30,000 tonne cargo of the low sulphur fuel.

Clean Arctic Alliance calls for ban of HFO use in Iceland’s waters

Sinopec aims to produce 10 million tonnes of LSFO by 2020
