Hapag-Lloyd announced that it will suspend the Low Water Surcharge for all cargoes originating in North Europe, with effect from February 1, 2019 (B/L Date).
The German company took that decision, because the water levels on the St. Lawrence River have improved.

ZIM notifies that the measuring point “Kaub” on the Rhine river has turned back to a normal level.
As a result, company withdraws the Low Water Surcharges, which it announced at November 1st, 2018.

ZIM notifies that the measuring point “Kaub“ on the Rhine river has fallen in the end of last week below 30cm, which caused an operational stand still, most of the barges operated on the Rhine river were no longer able to proceed through the “Kaub” measuring point and shipping of our cargo has effectively stopped.
The current situation slightly improved and the barges are operating with lower capacity as the water level remains critical, the forecast is currently showing an unstable trend.
