Repaired MSC Ariane set to resume voyage to LA

The MSC Ariane, which diverted to Japan for repairs, is expected to resume sailing for the Port of Los Angeles on Wednesday. 

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. said the Ariane “had an engine issue due to bad quality of fuel” on April 2 while en route from Xiamen, China, to LA.

MSC did not say what repairs were done in Wakayama, Japan. 

The MSC Ariane now is expected to anchor in California’s San Pedro Bay on May 1. “The estimated berthing date will depend upon the congestion in the Los Angeles area,”...

Container Vessels Resume Course After Engine Mishap

Following engine failures on both the MSC Ariane and Maersk Eureka the two vessels are back in service, reports the Container News.

Vessels to enter service

The Maersk Eureka has already been repaired and is now berthed in the Port of Long Beach, while MSC Ariane is expected to leave Japan after taking on fuel.

The 13,000 TEU container ship MSC Ariane temporarily lost power in the North Pacific due to a fuel quality issue, operator Mediterranean Shipping Company advised clients.

Eureka, another container ship en route to Long Beach, delayed

Nike and other major U.S. importers just got another kick in the shins. The arrival of the Maersk Eureka at the Port of Long Beach, California, will be delayed by about three weeks because of a mechanical problem at sea.

The notice of the latest delay came from MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co., which told customers Thursday, “Maersk has informed us that the container ship Maersk Eureka, deployed on our Sequoia service, had to stop at sea due to a damaged fuel pump.”
