MAN Energy Solutions reports that its MAN 175D engine has recently won two separate orders, one from Damen Shipyards and the other from Portuguese shipbuilder, West Sea – Estaleiros Navais, to power newbuildings for the Portuguese Navy.

MAN 175D picked to power DOF Sea Dragon OSV newbuild

Poland’s Crist Shipyard has ordered six MAN 12V175D variable speed gensets in connection with the construction of an OSV (offshore support vessel) for DOF. Provisionally named Sea Dragon, the OSV is set to assist operations off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Designed by Gdynia-based MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting Ltd., the Sea Dragon is scheduled for delivery by Q1 2027.

Svitzer plans to field test methanol-fueled MAN 175D in new tug

MAN Energy Solutions and Svitzer have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on developing a methanol-fueled version of the MAN 175D engine, designated the175DF-M (Dual Fuel-Methanol). The MoU targets finalization of a field-test agreement tnat will see a dual-fuel engine and plant equipment will be installed on board one of Svitzer’s newbuild tugs.
