HFW helps BIMCO draft offshore decommissioning contract

Maritime law firm HFW, which has a strong presence in the Middle East, has helped global shipping association BIMCO draft an industry standard offshore decommissioning contact. The contract – called DISMANTLECON – has been approved by BIMCO’s Documentary Committee and will be released at the end of June, along with guidance notes.

Dubai has moved up the rankings of the world’s top 10 maritime capitals in 2019. The emirate took the 9th spot this year, up from its 10th place in 2017, according to a recent report issued by Menon Economics and DNV GL. Marine Ball celebrates female empowerment

Everyone was in agreement. This year’s Marine Ball, held at the Hyatt Regency on Dubai’s Deira Corniche on April 12th, was a huge success.

The Ball, the 30th organised by the UAE branch of the Nautical Institute, was first held in 1988. However for the past three years it has not taken place, as a result of changing regulatory requirements. The maritime industry is dominated by men. There are very few women  who make it here but things are gradually changing as we witness more women coming to the forefront.

The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has officially launched the updated version of its Sea Dubai portal as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen and develop the emirate’s maritime cluster.
