FMC investigating Spain’s alleged blocking of US ships

WASHINGTON — The Federal Maritime Commission has launched an investigation into allegations that Spain has been denying certain U.S-flagged vessels entry to its ports. Separately, Spanish authorities say a Danish-flagged ship was denied entry because it was carrying military weapons to Israel.

ARC adds another U.S. flag RO/RO vessel to its fleet

Ponte Vedra, Fla., based ARC (American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier Group Inc.) has added a ninth U.S.-flag roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) vessel to its fleet. ARC is a member of the Wallenius-Wilhelmsen group and its newest vessel is a former Wallenius-Wilhelmsen large car/truck carrier, the 2012 built ex-Tulane, which was re-flagged to U.S. registry and renamed ARC Honor on February 2, 2024. The re-flagging was conducted with the U.S. Coast Guard in the port of Incheon, Korea.

MARAD’s MSP and TSP sealift programs are now fully enrolled

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) says that its two key sealift programs, the Maritime Security Program (MSP) and the new Tanker Security Program (TSP) are now fully enrolled.

The MSP and TSP sealift programs provide U.S.-flagged and U.S.-crewed ships for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) sustainment sealift requirements during times of conflict or in other national emergencies and both pay shipowners a retainer for each enrolled vessel.
