AI research on maritime logistics in shipping starts

K Line, Japan’s shipping major, has jointly agreed with Hiroshima University, the National Institute of Maritime, Port and Aviation Technology and Marubeni Corporation to collaborate on the research and analysis of maritime logistics and shipping market conditions using artificial intelligence (AI).

Software system for oily water discharge data comparison launched

Rivertrace announced that it has created a new, web-based software system for the automatic collation of MARPOL oily water discharge data. The  software system interprets, and records oily water discharge data received from Rivertrace’s Oil Record Book Bilge Overboard Security System monitoring equipment.

Data received from the monitor is shown on a dashboard interface, which enables both ship and fleet-level critical information to be displayed for the user.

Ship registration becomes digital in Panama

The Panama Ship Registry will launch the ‘Electronic Ship Registration System (ESRS)’, a platform that will simplify the process of ship registration, consisting of Panama Maritime Authority’s General Directorate of Merchant Marine (Ship Registry) and General Directorate of Public Property registry of Ships (ownership titles and mortgage registration).
