“Dark Fleet” STS Transfers Discussed at IMO

Multiple concerns have been raised at IMO meetings regarding an increase in ship-to-ship (STS) transfers at sea, in particular instances of ships using “dark operations” to hide their whereabouts. The subject was discussed at the IMO’s Legal Committee (LEG 110) in March, and again at the 80th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 80) in July, reports IBIA.

ISWG-GHG 14: Clean-tech Providers Pleased with ‘Initial Discussions’

Some of the technology providers who will be helping to drive the marine energy transition have shared their thoughts with Bunkerspot on the fourteenth meeting of the Intersessional Working Group on Greenhouse Gases (ISWG-GHG 14) – and while most seem pleased with the tone of last week’s discussions, there is a clear call for ‘further granularity’ to emerge at the eightieth meeting of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 80) in July.
