HHLA launches transformation of Trieste terminal into ro-ro and box hub

The push for Adriatic container ports to compete with North European terminals for market share in Central and Eastern Europe took another step forward this week.
Hamburg terminal operator HHLA completed its acquisition of a majority stake in Trieste multipurpose terminal Piattaforma Logistica Trieste, which will be will be transformed into a joint ro-ro and container operation.

New Vectron locomotives for Metrans

Metrans, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, received the first Vectron MS locomotive at the Metrans container terminal in Prague on November 11. The vehicle is part of an order of ten multi-system locomotives. They are being manufactured in the Siemens Mobility factory in Munich-Allach and will be delivered in full by spring 2020. Metrans will deploy the new Vectron locomotives in transnational freight traffic across Central and Eastern Europe.

Siemens enhances HHLA rail network

Metrans, a.s., a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has ordered ten Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility Czech Republic. The locomotives will be built at Siemens Mobility’s factory in Munich-Allach, and deliveries are scheduled from the end of 2019 until spring 2020. The locomotives will be operated in cross-border freight service in Central and Eastern European countries.

Hamburg port: Gateway to the World for Czechia and Slovakia

Metrans, founded exactly 70 years ago, was the main talking point at the Port of Hamburg Evening in Prague on 11 October.
