Equinor secures $3 billion in project financing for Empire Wind 1

In a sign that lenders have not soured on U.S. offshore wind, Equinor reports that its Empire Wind 1 project has now secured a project financing package of over $3 billion. Financial close was reached at the end of December 2024.

Equinor says that, due to strong interest from lenders, the Empire Wind 1 project was able to secure competitive terms and that the final group of lenders includes some of the most experienced lenders in the sector along with many of Equinor’s relationship banks.

Equinor and Dominion the winners in $92.65 million Central Atlantic offshore wind lease sale

Two established U.S. offshore wind players, Equinor and Dominion Energy, were the winners in today’s Central Atlantic offshore wind lease sale.

The sale, details of which were announced in June, was the fifth held during the Biden administration. It attracted $92.65 million in winning bids for two lease areas offshore the states of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. The sale – the first in the region in a decade – resulted in two provisional winners and $92.65 million in winning bids.

New NYSERDA contracts put two NY offshore wind projects back on track
