MPC Container Ships secures ship acquisitions and new charter package deal

MPC Container Ships ASA (MPCC) has announced the acquisition of two 3,500 TEU vessels and a charter agreement package for 10 vessels, including the new acquisitions.

The Norwegian ship owner bought two 3,500 TEU vessels for US$47.25 million.

The vessels are expected to be handed over from their current owner in the third quarter of 2024 and will be delivered into pre-agreed firm 36-month time charter contracts with a top-tier liner company.

MPC Container Ships sells last two joint venture-owned ships

Norwegian container tonnage provider MPC Container Ships ASA (MPCC) announced the sale of two joint venture-owned vessels, Cimbria and Cardonia, for US$42.5 million.

The vessels, each with a capacity of 2,800 TEU, were built in 2002 and 2003. Both ships are now on time-charter contracts that will expire at the earliest in July 2025 (Cardonia) and October 2025 (Cimbria).

WFW advises MPCC on methanol-powered container ship order

Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has advised Norway-headquartered MPC Container Ships ASA (MPCC) of its order for two newbuild 1,300 TEU dual-fuel methanol vessels in partnership with chemical group Elkem ASA (Elkem) and North Sea Container Line (NCL) which will charter both vessels for 15 years.

MPC Container Ships agrees on sale of six boxships

MPC Container Ships ASA (MPCC) has decided to sell six container vessels with an average size of 1,200TEU for a total of US$135 million.

MPCC’s total fleet will consist of 68 boxships once the sale of the six vessels has been completed.
