Containerised trade through India’s major and minor private ports saw measurable traction last month, according to exclusive port data obtained by Container News.

Combined volumes hit nearly 1.9 million TEUs in February, up nearly 5% from 1.8 million TEUs in January.

Mundra, India’s first port to handle over 16 MMT in single month

Mundra Port, the flagship of APSEZ, established another milestone in October by moving 16.1 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo, the highest-ever volume handled by any port in India.

Containers fall into Mundra waters after feeder capsizes

According to the Indian broker, Prevailing Shipping & Logistics India, at least 20 containers have fallen into the water from the 1999-built, Pana-flagged boxship Sea Express, which lost stability during unloading operations at Mundra Port in India.

Box vessel tilts at India’s Mundra Port due to stability problems

A container vessel lost stability while unloading cargo at India’s Mundra Port over the weekend, briefly disrupting normal operations.

The Panama-flagged, 1999-built  arrived at Mundra International Container Terminal (MICT) from Jebel Ali on 7 January.

Mundra Port gains Middle East regional connection amid growing volumes

Mundra Port, India’s top container gateway, continues to ramp up its ocean service network reach.
