Enoshima is famous, notorious even, for its big wave action, and that’s what the sailors got on day four of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition.

Eight out of ten fleets were racing on Wednesday, with only the Laser and Laser Radial having a rest day. Some sailors put down some big markers with dominant performances in the 470 Women and Nacra 17.

Leaderboards take shape at the Hempel World Cup Series – Allianz Regatta

The second day of racing at the Hempel World Cup Series – Allianz Regatta saw the leaderboards take shape in the ILCA 6, ILCA 7, Men’s and Women’s RS:X and the Nacra 17.

For the ILCA 7, it saw an end to their qualification phase with the top half of the pack progressing to the gold fleet and the lower half settling for the silver.

Mapping the Route to Tokyo for 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17

World Sailing and the IOC have finally concluded the Tokyo 2020 qualification system, including continental qualification. The 49er has 19 spots at the games, 20 for the Nacra 17, and 21 for the 49erFX. The previous baseline of 20 was slightly adjusted to account for a 50-50 male-female ratio at the games, while managing to have 4.5 events for women and 5.5 events for men.

Big Conditions to Kick Start European Season

Vilamoura, Portugal, has been growing as a winter destination for the past few seasons. Regattas in December and now February attracted 109 and then 116 boats respectively across 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17.

49er Added to Pan Am Games LineUp

At the 11th hour, the 49er class has been added to the Pan Am Games lineup along with additional quota places for the athletes expected to race. It joins the 49erFX and Nacra 17, along with 8 other disciplines in the PAG lineup.
