First Vessel Berth at the Port of PE’s Tanker Berth After Successful Repairs

The Port of Port Elizabeth welcomed the berthing of UACC Mirdif, the first vessel at its Tanker Berth after the successful and early completion of the berth repairs.

The vessel berthed at 10:00 on Friday, 29 March 2019 and sailed on Saturday, 30 March 2019. It delivered white oil to Nelson Mandela Bay.

UACC Mirdif is a 2010 Japanese built oil tanker, 182 metres in length and 47367 dwt owned and managed by United Arab Chemical Carriers of Dubai.

Contingency Plans in Place for PE Tanker Berth Outage

Transnet National Ports Authority has given its full assurance that contingency plans are in place to avoid disruptions to fuel supplies during a scheduled five-week shutdown of the tanker berth in the Port Elizabeth harbour from Monday, 18 February until Monday, 25 March 2019. The berth outage will enable repairs to be carried out on the corroded steel structures supporting the berth’s access walkway.
