Taiwan-based electronics maker investing $500M in Mexico

Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics maker, said Tuesday that it’s partnering with the Chihuahua state government in Mexico to advance nearshoring, workforce training and energy solutions.

The $500 million investment is aimed at expanding the company’s manufacturing capabilities in Mexico, Foxconn officials said.

Wildfire risk heating up for truckers in Southwest

As fire weather conditions rise across the Southwest, truckers may run into road closures, low visibility due to smoke, and a high risk of rollovers.

Most of the large wildfires are in New Mexico — five of them, according to the Inciweb interactive map. Sections of at least 12 state highways are still closed due to these fires, especially in the Santa Fe and Las Vegas areas.

State of emergency declared as New Mexico wildfires rage

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed emergency declarations as 20 wildfires continued burning in nearly half of the state’s drought-stricken 33 counties.
